HERE: TAMPA, Fla. (Sept. 14, 2011) – Family and friends remembered Lee Roy Selmon, former University of South Florida athletic director and Tampa Bay Buccaneer Hall of Famer, at a memorial service on Sept. 9 at Idlewild Baptist Church. The champion defensive end and Tampa Bay sports icon was 56 when he died.
In Selmon’s honor, USF President Judy Genshaft announced that the USF Athletic facility will be renamed the Lee Roy Selmon Athletic Center at the University of South Florida.
The Selmon family asks that donations be made to the Abe Brown Ministries and the University of South Florida Foundation Partnership for Athletics.
