Can you be forced to eat meat? Can you be forced to club seals? Violations of Conscience 2.5

First they came for the vegetarians. What would you do if you were told to club baby seals and eat them?
What would you do if the government MADE you do it?
What would you do if the government took your tax donations and clubbed baby seals to feed hot lunches to third graders?

As H.D.Thoreau said
to Emerson, (who had asked him, when
Thoreau was jailed for refusing to pay his taxes on principle,
"Henry, what are you doing in there!?)--
"Emerson, what are you doing out there??"
please
remember,
A Principle Laid

Are you prepared to do whatever it takes, not to violate your conscience?

Leapin' Lizards and hotsmokin' Valley of Josaphat. Can you say 1984? Or is it 2012?
There are

But did you really think the government would make the decision that lipids are bad, latex is good, and begin to take charge of your children while you were still alive?

I want to explore why the recent move towards getting rid of the superstitious, dreamy, mystically stuff like religion is so important to some.
but first:
it's happy hour............
ok .I'm coming back here to put forth the idea of why some consider life
to be Sacred.

The Case for Life as a Mystical Scared Unfathomable Gift:

Ask yourself, why the big debate over abortion? If you are 'only' 25 years old, that question evokes a COMPLETELY different set of neuron firings than if you are 50 or 70.

It is impossible to argue or discuss issues unless one is willing to listen;
one wants to understand;
one is not focused on persuading the other but in
expanding understanding.
Like, Margaret Meade was not trying to make the villagers buy a dishwasher to scald the bacteria off the plates.
(Although in the case of throwing babies into volcanos, perhaps a quick diversion might be attempted...)

SO--
If one is a practicing Buddhist, or was raised a practicing Catholic, or studied many of the major and minor religions,
Life is a concept of wonder  to  ponder  respect  poetecize  value.
[In fact, if one studies the Values associated with Life, it becomes even more complicated (part III)]
But for now,
Just consider Life.
Meditate on Life.
and here is a little film to assist
embedded is the preview. The last 5 minutes of the film itself struck The Life in my very core.

OK so watch the whole show, then come back.

The Murder of Yeardly Love; George Huguely Jurors Will Deliberate

update: Guilty of 2nd degree murder.
Photos HERE. The jury is now out in determining if a violent boyfriend killed his ex girlfriend. The defense--against premeditated murder-- is that he was too drunk to have deliberated.
Now that's a defense that can make a father proud.

Lacrosse player kills girlfriend?  Prosecutors in Virginia lay out the case, called 21 witnesses
("who gave emotional testimony about the college lacrosse player’s savage beating death, allegedly at the hands of boyfriend George Huguely"). Video: NBC’s Jeff Rossen reports.

excerpt:  By ZINIE CHEN SAMPSON  Associated Press

-CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — A grand jury will hear the case against a former University of Virginia lacrosse player accused of killing a member of the women's team, a judge ruled on Monday after a nine-hour hearing. ....George Huguely, 23, is charged with first-degree murder in the May 3, 2010, slaying of 22-year-old Yeardley Love in her Charlottesville apartment. After nine hours of testimony from about 20 witnesses, the judge determined that there was evidence for the case to move forward....
[[pain alert]]

Huguely is accused of entering Love's apartment
and slamming her head into a wall.
She died of trauma to the head, authorities said. Huguely told police at the time that they had been involved in a relationship that had recently ended. ..
Huguely's lawyer Francis Lawrence said he plans to show that Huguely had no intention of killing Love, and didn't even know she was dead until a detective told him. Lawrence also noted that his client has been cooperating with police since he was taken in for questioning after Love's body was found.
Defense lawyers and prosecutor Dave Chapman took turns questioning police officers, forensics experts and rescue crew members as well as roommates and lacrosse teammates of Huguely and Love over details about the case. Families and friends of both athletes sat in the crowded courtroom."
..."Caitlin Whiteley, Love's roommate and lacrosse teammate, testified that Love, who was from Cockeysville, Md., decided to stay home the night before the slaying, when Whiteley went out with friends to several nightspots. She returned home with U.Va. tennis player Phillipe Oudshoorn about 2 a.m. on May 3, and noticed a hole had been punched through Love's bedroom door. She said Love was face down, her arms down by her side. Then she saw blood on the pillow and sheet. Oudshoorn testified that they both "started freaking out."
A student who lived in the apartment below told the court that she heard a loud bang, then heavy footsteps while she was studying on May 3. Anna Lehmann testified she looked out her ground-floor picture window and saw a man walking away from the building. She didn't see his face, but testified he was muscular and wore shorts and a blue shirt, similar to the clothing other witnesses had told police that Huguely was wearing that day...Lead investigator Lisa Reeves testified that she videotaped an interview with Huguely, who was quickly identified as a suspect in Love's death. Reeves said he was calm and cooperative, and that he told her that he'd put Love's missing laptop computer in a trash bin at a nearby apartment complex. Police retrieved it there.

...Dr. William Gormley of the state's chief medical examiner's office detailed the injuries Love suffered, including hemorrhages under the eye and scalp and a bruised chin. He said that Love died from blunt-force injury to the head, and went over photographs with lawyers. Defense attorney Rhonda Quagliano questioned Gormley at length about the autopsy findings, including asking him about the lack of "grab injuries" to the torso or whether her death could have been caused by a fall.
According to search-warrant documents, Huguely had told investigators that he and Love fought on May 3, that it turned physical, and her head struck a wall several times.

Interesting verb-subject action there, sport.

Bottle rockets and brotherhood

what fraternity does this:

bottle rockets out of anuses and lawsuits HERE http://www.legalnewsline.-man-startled-by-bottle-rocket-shot-out-of-anus-sues-frat

"HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (Legal Newsline) - ...A man is suing Alpha Tau Omega after he was injured at a frat party. Travis Hughes, another man at the party, was also named as a defendant in the suit. On May 1, 2011, ...the fraternity was having a house party both Louis Helmberg and Hughes were attending
Helmberg claims Hughes became intoxicated and while attempting to "shoot bottle rockets out of his anus on the ATO deck."
When doing so, Hughes startled Helmberg, who then jumped back and fell off of the deck of the fraternity house and was injured, according to the suit...

where are the men of Good Fraternity:
of
the lovely bond of male brotherhood?

The answer is not about fraternities. Men who are bikers, men who are engineers, men who are alcoholics, men who are vacationing, wasted women who are vacationing with them all do this
bottle rocket thing
Fraternities just get the publicity--
 similar to how
the 2-4 out of a hundred women who report (not including the 500 who do not report) rape, falsely, are the ones the media  want to report about. Chat about, Model TV Drama crime shows about.

A Love Poem Goodbye

May I Go?

Do you think the time is right?
May I say goodbye to pain-filled days and endless lonely nights?
I've lived my life and done my best, an example tried to be.

So can I take that step beyond, and set my spirit free?
I didn't want to go at first, I fought with all my might.
But something seems to draw me now to a warm and living light.

I want to go, I really do; it's difficult to stay.
But I will try as best I can to live just one more day.
To give you time to care for me and share your love and fears.

I know you're sad and afraid, because I see your tears.
I'll not be far, I promise that, and hope you'll always know,
That my spirit will be close to you wherever you may go.
Thank you so for loving me. You know I love you too,
And that's why it's hard to say goodbye and end this life with you.
So hold me now just one more time and let me hear you say,
Because you care so much for me, you'll let me go today.

Love Poem for Wild Animals

Romantic Moment
After seeing the nature documentary we walk down Canyon Road,
onto the plaza of art galleries and high end clothing stores
where the orange trees are fragrant in the summer night
and the smooth adobe walls glow fleshlike in the dark.

It is just our second date, and we sit down on a bench,
holding hands, not looking at each other,
and if I were a bull penguin right now I would lean over
and vomit softly into the mouth of my beloved

and if I were a peacock I’d flex my gluteal muscles to
erect and spread the quills of my Cinemax tail.
If she were a female walkingstick bug she might
insert her hypodermic probiscus directly into my neck

and inject me with a rich hormonal sedative
before attaching her egg sac to my thoracic undercarriage,
and if I were a young chimpanzee I would break off a nearby tree limb
and smash all the windows in the plaza jewelry stores.

And if she was a Brazilian leopard frog she would wrap her impressive
tongue three times around my right thigh and
pummel me softly against the surface of our pond
and I would know her feelings were sincere.

Instead we sit awhile in silence, until
she remarks that in the relative context of tortoises and igunanas,
human males seem to be actually rather expressive.
And I say that female crocodiles really don’t receive

enough credit for their gentleness,
Then she suggests that it is time for us to go
do something personal, hidden, and human.
